Spoken Situational Awareness

Voice Alarm Module

Voice cues reduce silent failures and help a tired skipper understand state changes immediately, without first having to find and read a screen.

Why Voice Matters

Wake Up Knowing What Is Wrong

Picture the real offshore moment: you are taking a short nap on the cockpit bench or inside the cabin, the alarm starts, and for the first few seconds you are still half asleep, trying to understand what the alarm is about.

Now compare that with a clear, loud voice saying: Alarm. AIS. Boat too close. Or: Alarm. Man overboard. Or: Warning. Rudder response lost. The voice alarm turns a generic beep into immediate information, so the skipper can react faster and with less confusion.

Voice Functions

  • Critical alarm announcements with severity categories.
  • Mode-change and maneuver-state callouts.
  • Watchkeeping reminders with timed escalation.
  • Acknowledge and silence logic aligned with safety policies.

Why It Matters Offshore

  • Reduces missed warnings when eyes are off-screen.
  • Improves confidence during fatigue and night watches.
  • Speeds up detection of mode mismatch and stale links.
  • Supports singlehanded cockpit workflows while the skipper is handling other tasks.

Feedback And Comments

This project is still in progress, and I would genuinely like feedback on what is missing, what feels unclear, and what would be most useful offshore. The first sea trial is planned for the 2026 sailing season, and every comment is reviewed by me before it appears publicly.

Comments do not appear immediately. I review and approve them manually before anything is published on the site. Please avoid posting private contact details that should not be visible on the web.

No public comments yet. You can be the first to add feedback.

Built For Singlehanded Offshore Reality

These public pages focus on what the suite actually delivers offshore: steadier steering, fail-safe automation, and practical offshore support that reduces workload without taking control away from the skipper.
