Wrist Control For Short Course Corrections

Apple Watch Remote

The Watch Remote is a small, safety-gated control surface for the moment when the skipper is away from the helm and needs a short course correction or an urgent autopilot message.

Apple Watch Remote

Course Control From The Foredeck

The Watch remote is designed for the moment when the skipper is away from the helm, for example on the foredeck, and needs a small course correction without running back to the cockpit.

What It Does

  • Shows live autopilot mode, heading, target and link state.
  • Sends small heading changes through the gateway over the boat WLAN.
  • Lets the skipper read autopilot messages and warnings directly on the wrist.
  • Keeps the gateway as the final authority for accepting or rejecting every command.

Built-In Safety Gates

  • No mode changes from the Watch: course nudges only.
  • Commands are hidden until the KSF icon is deliberately dragged down to unlock.
  • Accepted and rejected commands are reported immediately.
  • If the WLAN link is stale or the autopilot state is unsafe, commands fail closed.

Related across the suite

Current page focus: Foredeck course nudges and wrist-readable autopilot messages.

Low-authority course nudges only.
Gateway-authoritative accept/reject handling.
Autopilot messages readable from the wrist.
Deliberate unlock gesture before commands appear.
WLAN stale-link fail-closed behavior.
Useful from foredeck without replacing helm control.

Feedback And Comments

This project is still in progress, and I would genuinely like feedback on what is missing, what feels unclear, and what would be most useful offshore. The first sea trial is planned for the 2026 sailing season, and every comment is reviewed by me before it appears publicly.

Comments do not appear immediately. I review and approve them manually before anything is published on the site. Please avoid posting private contact details that should not be visible on the web.

No public comments yet. You can be the first to add feedback.

Built For Singlehanded Offshore Reality

These public pages focus on what the suite actually delivers offshore: steadier steering, fail-safe automation, and practical offshore support that reduces workload without taking control away from the skipper.
