Printable Sailing Emergency Cards: Mayday, Crew Briefing, Rescue, Water, MOB, Heavy Weather And Fire

Emergency cards are for the moment when people are tired, wet, frightened or new to the boat.

The goal is simple: put the most important words, numbers, first actions and equipment locations where they can be read quickly by anyone on board.

Reference

Print before the emergency, not during it

A printed card cannot fix the boat. It can help someone make the right call, find the right switch, or give the right information when the skipper is busy or injured.

Fill the cards in for your boat, print them, laminate them if possible, and keep copies near the VHF, chart table, cockpit and wherever crew naturally look during a problem.

Emergency Communication

Mayday, Pan-Pan And Boat Details

Cards for Mayday, Pan-Pan, normal call reminders, boat name, MMSI, call sign, position notes, emergency contacts, safety gear locations and passage notes.

Use these near the VHF and chart table. A person who does not normally operate the radio should still be able to read the card and make a basic call.
