KSF Passage Companion for iPad
A standalone onboard app for manual logbook entries, Voyage Story notes, Where Is? inventory, suggested and scalable provisioning shopping lists, readiness checks, ZIP backups, and optional shared iCloud boat data with the Mac version.
Use it by itself onboard, or use it together with the Mac version: plan and organize on Mac, then walk around the boat to verify, update, and save back to shared boat data.
Requires iPadOS 16.0 or newer.
Use this when
You want one simple onboard place for logbook entries, Voyage Story notes, inventory, provisioning, readiness checks and backups.
It works standalone on iPad and does not require an account, subscription or internet connection. The optional Mac workflow is explicit: save shared boat data on one device, then reload it on the other.

Mac Companion Workflow
The onboard app has its own workflow for use around the boat. The Mac version is still best for deeper setup, PDFs, document-heavy exports and larger-screen planning.
When both are used, the shared workflow is explicit: save shared boat data on one device, release or close it, then reload it on the other device. The shared dataset includes boat identity, logbook, Voyage Story notes, Where Is? inventory/location data, provisioning plan data, and readiness state. Voyage Story photos are stored as normal JPG sidecar files plus KSFPassageCompanion-VoyageMediaIndex.json beside the shared JSON. Use Grant Shared Folder Access if the app cannot save those sidecar files. This avoids silent overwrites.
App Store Status
Current build: 1.0.14
Compatibility: iPadOS 16.0 or newer.
The app is available now on the App Store. It has no subscription, no in-app purchase, no advertising, and no paid account requirement.
USB/serial NMEA input is intentionally not included in the first release. Live instrument integration may be considered later.
Part Of The SailingKSF Ecosystem
The Mac apps are ready to use now as standalone tools, and KSF Passage Companion for iPad is available on the App Store as the onboard companion. It can also be useful by itself. The autopilot suite remains under test during the 2026 sailing season, with a small group of interested sailors planned after the first sea-trial phase.

Safety Note
The app is for passage organization, record keeping, and onboard workflow. It does not replace official navigation, approved safety equipment, legal logbook requirements, SOLAS/COLREG obligations, or skipper judgement.
